Detectives based in Ruiru have recovered over Sh350 Million in fake US dollars and Pounds, one Glock pistol and 28 rounds of 9mm calibre, from 3 Cameroonian nationals.
The suspects, Paulin Francis Proper and Njikam Omar were found to be in the country illegally while the third suspect Job Kentong, holds a refugee identity card.
In an operation conducted last evening within BTL area in Ruiru, the detectives also recovered over 250 kilograms of fake gold nuggets and gold bars.
Upon further interrogation of Paulin Francis who is the main suspect, detectives raided his house in Muthaiga North where the firearm was recovered. Detailed investigations revealed that the firearm belonged to a fourth suspect Loise Kaguongo, who was holding it illegally, since her firearms license had expired.
Kaguongo operates over 10 mobile money outlets and detectives believe that she is the link between the suspects and wider criminal syndicate that is defrauding unsuspecting members of the public.
The two Jamil Salman Abdul, 43 and 30-yr-old Tesfawork Ermias Dogso were also found to be operating within the country illegally.
Search conducted after intercepting a Nissan Note, KDA 505Y occupied by the two suspects led to the recovery of a khaki envelope bearing 198 forged Euro notes in 100 denominations, hidden between the driver’s and co-driver’s seats.
All the notes bore similar serial numbers – BCE ECB EZB EKT EKP 2002 – and more are believed to have been used in defrauding unsuspecting Kenyans.
As interrogations on the suspects continue, the exhibits have been secured pending production in court when the duo will be charged.

Fred Matiang’i Your idea of police officers marrying themselves is not a solution, instead: Listen sir, infact if I was you,I could encourage them to marry, sign through your office that they’re couples, given same work station. Police don’t have an issue with marriage, the problem comes from depression as a result of poor pay and poor housing, poor working conditions, mass transfers etc. Do you expect a police earning 25k sustain his/her family?remember they have no single time to invest as much as they could, they work work work. Long working hours and transfers affect their closeness and good relationships with their spouses, which result to them engaging in other side relationships and when leaks it results in social based fights and even deaths. Don’t fight marriages, fight to better these people lives.. Depression is killing them 😢💔 I’m sorry to lecture you Daktari😞
Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i has said the ministry will craft rules barring police officers from engaging in romantic relations with their colleagues.
The minister says the move is meant to avert marital murders. Matiang’i spoke on Friday, April 30 at the Kenya Police Training College in Kiganjo, Nyeri County during the induction of new police recruits. “We are scaling up the management practice of the police service,” he said.
“We have to adopt a new way [of doing things]. We will create a new gender relations office that will be under the supervision of the Inspector General of Police. Some of the female police officers have filed sexual harassment complaints. I want to assure you that it won’t happen in the future,” added the CS. Matiang’i said his ministry is concerned by the rising numbers of National Police Service officers killing their loved ones who are also in the forces. “We will adopt a system similar to that of the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) which bars the soldiers from getting into intimate relationships with their colleagues. Moving forward, it will be illegal for a police officer to date or get married to a fellow law enforcement officer. If it happens that two police officers fall in love, then one has to leave the Service,” he said.
The CS also warned high-ranking police officers against sexually harassing their juniors, stating the senior cops would be stripped of titles and, thereafter, sacked. “We won’t talk much moving forward, we will act,” he emphasised. The CS, however, said police officers who are already married to their colleagues won’t be affected by the new directive. The minister also put the media on the spot, claiming journalists often paint police officers in bad light.

If asked to name a counterterrorism unit in Kenya, most people would probably think of the elite and highly feared Anti-Terror Police Unit (ATPU), DCI.
The special unit took centre stage during the Dusit D2 terror attack in January 2019. Although 21 lives were lost, more than 700 people were safely evacuated from the building complex and all the terrorists killed.
However, the fact that the heinous attack was discovered to have been planned and executed by Kenyan citizens warranted the formation of an elite unit to deal with the threat within.
In the first ever Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) magazine published on August 31 2020, Director George Kinoti gave a rare glimpse into Kenya’s most elite police unit dubbed ERT (Emergency Response Team).
DCI boss with the squad commander
Having been birthed due to the horrific terror attack, the special unit is only called out on the biggest and most sensitive incidents.
These regional teams handle most armed incidents in the country, from flushing out terrorists holed up in Boni Forest, to attacks in the North-Eastern part of the country.
On June 5, 2020 DCI Kinoti unveiled the special unit upon successful completion of a rigorous training period, with some of the manoeuvres and drills instilled on members of the unit falling under the ‘classified’ category.
Clad in full combat gear, balaclavas and armed to the teeth with an array of weapons including the Spanish made CZ Scorpion EVO 3 A1 airsoft rifle and the Belgian-made FN SCAR rifle, the members of the team members cut a mean-looking unit.
Their special assault rifles have doubled stacked magazines. This makes it heavier which works exactly in they way they want it to as a heavier gun recoils less, making it lethally accurate. The other obvious advantage to a double stack magazine is the added ammunition.
The level of equipment and level of training of these units varies greatly depending on the threat at hand.
“A platoon of young energetic officers are headhunted for this endeavour,” DCI Kinoti revealed.
They then undertake specialized training crucial for offensive operations that enhance practicable capability in its routine and emergent operational deployments.
These include basic and advanced anti-terrorism courses, combat and sport shooting, marksmanship, radio communication, urban surveillance, sensitive site exploitation, sniping, casualty care and hostage evacuation.
The team in partnership with other specialized counter-terrorism units that include the Special Program for Embassy Augmentation Response (SPEAR), RECCE and others across the disciplined forces carry out regular military manoeuvres that include intelligent and tactical approach in handling terror incidents.
These annual manoeuvres take several days and are usually witnessed by all top heads of the participating services and forces led by the Commander-in-Chief.
The key aim of this exercise is to nurture and cultivate the multi agency cooperation, making their actions during an emergency as fluid as water.
According to reports, the unit also undergoes a rigorous training exercise overseen by some of the worlds most lethal police units in Israel and the UK.
